The Atomic APF (Atomic Polymer Flex) Prong is a uniquely Australian-designed prawn imitation that has earned a reputation as one of the most versatile soft plastics available. Now part of the premium Atomic Polymer Flex (APF) range, it features a softer, more responsive material that delivers enhanced action and a more lifelike presentation in the water.
Available in a range of sizes, the APF Prong is equally at home in estuaries, freshwater impoundments and offshore environments. Its distinctive body shape and multiple soft tendrils create subtle movement as it sinks, allowing it to imitate a prawn or crustacean with remarkable realism. The neutral buoyancy of the APF material allows the lure to sink naturally through the water column, making it ideal for deeper applications where highly buoyant TPE materials can sink less naturally. Whether rigged unweighted for a natural descent or on a heavy jig head around reefs and structure, the APF Prong maintains a realistic presentation throughout.
The Prong has proven itself on species including bream, bass, flathead, barra and snapper. It can be crawled slowly along the bottom, hopped through structure or twitched aggressively to imitate a fleeing prawn. Available in a selection of proven fish-catching colours, the Atomic APF (Atomic Polymer Flex) Prong is an essential lure for anglers chasing a wide variety of Australian species.
WILL CATCH
Bream, bass, flathead, estuary perch, snapper, yellowbelly, jewfish, barra, coral trout and all other reef species.
WHEN TO TIE ONE ON
The Atomic Prong is a soft plastic prawn imitation lure capable of being used at multiple depths. It has to be rigged on a jighead or worm hook and can be fished with weight or weightless. It has long life-like tendrils that waft in the current. You can use this lure in estuaries, off beaches, in impoundments and offshore.
HOW TO USE
• The prong has to be rigged on a jighead or worm hook. Make sure it is rigged straight for the most lifelike action.
• Use a loop knot for the best action. It allows the lure to swim freely.
• It can be allowed to sink and worked back to the boat or shore with a hop off the bottom. Mix up the retrieve until you work out what the fish are responding to. Use multiple hops before letting the lure settle.
• This lure is ideal for very snaggy territory as it can be rigged weedless using an Atomic weighted worm hook or Gamakatsu unweighted worm hook.
THINK OUTSIDE THE SQUARE
• Use this lure on the surface rigged weedless on a Gamakatsu worm hook. This technique is dynamite in estuaries and offshore
